A winner of Lane Crawford’s 2016 edition of its Calling Out for the Next New programme, fashion and accessories designer Cecilia Ma is inspired by her extensive travels and passion for French films, coming up with collections that are full of whimsical details, bold colours and expressive statements. Ma debuted her first ready-to-wear collection in Paris in 2011, soon after expanding into jewellery, accessories and clutch bags shortly after.

The same cheeky bravado is showcased in her playful designs which are all exclusive to Lane Crawford, including iPad cases emblazed with the slogan ‘Magic can take you a long way’ and mugs illustrated with a tongue cheekily sticking out of juicy red lips.” The designer says, “I want my products to make people smile. I find people with a great sense of humour so inspiring and fascinating - humour has the ability to connect people.”

Colouring books have officially become the hobby du jour for grown-ups, this festive season, turn the hobby into good with La La Land.

Created by Nisha Parmanand and fashion writer and editor Divia Harilela, the pair reached out to Hong Kong’s creative community from fashion to art and media, inviting them to submit an illustration that embodied their ‘La La Land.’

“My mother’s nickname for me growing up was LuluLaLa which inspired the book’s name,” explains Parmanand. “The whole point of a colouring book is to relax you, not to focus on your daily worries. It’s for you to just go to your happy place, where you daydream - to your La La Land.”

Eighty-five percent of the proceeds for each book will go directly to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, a very personal charity to Parmanand and Harilela’s family.

Studio Concrete - Out Of This World

For high-resolution images and more information, please download here:

https://lanecrawford.box.com/s/i73tq8emrfawtgpb2wvbp3s7d0tip635

Korean artist collective meets fashion label meets gallery, Studio Concrete, may have one of the country’s most popular (and fashionable) young stars as its founder. But that’s just chapter one of the story. It’s the ingenious, multi-genre projects, mixing art, fashion, music and pop culture, which have made it one of the coolest things to come out of Korea in recent years.

Its founder, actor Yoo Ah-in, simply calls it an ongoing “art project”. “We do art collaborations, design clothes and create various, multi-media content,” he tells us. “But in the end, our aim is to have creative freedom and an ‘out-of-the-box’ attitude to art, design and fashion.”

Since opening its doors two years ago, this unique, multipurpose space in central Seoul has produced one intriguing (and highly successful) project after another. The “How Do You Feel 1-10” sweatshirt collection, for one – featuring a number patch on the back describing your current mood (1 being ‘low’ and 10 being ‘high’) - was an instant hit with streetwear lovers.

For this coming holiday season, Studio Concrete has collaborated with Lane Crawford on an exclusive capsule collection including sweaters, hoodies, T-shirts and jackets featuring graphics that reinterpret the idea of space travel. “We chose space exploration as the concept for this collection to symbolise endless creativity and curiosity,” says Yoo. While we won’t be able to enjoy space itself just yet, at least with this limited edition collection, we can still get a taste of K-culture cool that's out of this world.
